Just after 1530 hrs. Engine Company 17 was dispatched to 2325 Houston St (1st Due) for a reported Auto on Fire in front. Engine 171 (w/4+1) and Deputy Chief Baylor responded and found same Fully Involved. Members extinguished same, racked-up and returned home.
Just as the Engine was backing into quarters about 1620 hrs., Communications dispatched units with the 3rd Battalion to 2018 Shadyside Ave (1st Due) for a reported possible Chimney Fire. Engine 171 (w/4+1) and Deputy Chief Baylor responded along with the Engine from 5 (Capitol Hgts), 27(Morningside) and the Truck from 29 (Silver Hill).
Company 17 arrived to find a 1 Story Single Family Wood Frame home with nothing evident from side A-Alpha and with our own Hydrant. Advanced a 200'-1.5" line to find fire in the chimney area with some extensions in the walls. Deputy Chief Baylor established the Shadyside Command and held all units to operate, while BC3 assumed the Interior Div. Engine 272 laid a 2nd line in and advanced a backup line to check the basement and cock loft areas. Units opened up and extinguished all fire and extensions found. Command was terminated and units picked-up and returned to service in just under :45 mins. "On a Job Well Done!"
