Just after 0900 hrs. While at Co.29 taking on fuel, Communications dispatched a Box Alarm for a reported House Fire for units from the 5th and 3rd Battalions to 5312 Woodland Blvd "42's area". Engine 171 advised Communications they were at Co. 29, and was added to the assignment 5th Due. Engine 171 (w/2) responded and C17B Baylor (+1) went to make-up staffing. E42 and C21B Armstrong (Command) arrived on Side-A-Alpha to find a 2 Story Single Family Ordinary Construction home with Smoke Showing from the garage area. Engine 171 arrived and assumed the 3rd Due position, laid 400'-3" and advanced a 250'-2" line to the rear. As units began to open up and get to the fire they found fire in the ceiling area between the basement and 1st floor in quadrant "B" of the house. Engine 171's crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. C17B assisted at the Command Post. Units from 17 cleared in under an hour. Command held E42 and TK32 to mop up.
